PNL Dâmbovița Leader Discusses Potential Changes in Prime Minister Candidacy Amidst Government Formation Negotiations

Virgil Guran, the leader of PNL Dâmbovița, recently shared insights during an interview with RFI regarding the ongoing political developments within the Liberal Party.

Guran emphasized that PNL remains steadfast in their current positions, while also addressing the possibility of reconsidering Siegfried Mureșan’s candidacy for the position of prime minister.

Regarding the formation of a new Government, Guran reiterated PNL’s stance, stating, ‘We stand by what we said. We are dealing with these important issues for Romania, which have deadlines, and from a political point of view, we also maintain that decision that we will no longer govern with PSD.’

He further expressed openness to forming a Government in collaboration with USR, UDMR, and PSD, emphasizing the importance of continuity in governance to navigate the current challenges effectively.

When discussing the potential scenarios for government formation, Guran highlighted the need for constructive dialogue and the involvement of the President of Romania to facilitate agreements among the parties.

Regarding the conditions under which PNL would reconsider Mureșan’s candidacy, Guran mentioned that such decisions would be deliberated within the party, indicating a willingness to explore alternative solutions that benefit Romania.

In response to a hypothetical situation involving a minority PNL-USR-UDMR Government with a technocrat prime minister, Guran stated that while such proposals would be subject to internal discussions, the key criteria would be selecting an individual capable of implementing necessary reforms effectively.
