PSD Calls for Constructive Approach to Overcome Political Crisis and Address Economic Challenges

The Social Democratic Party issued a press release on Thursday urging lawmakers and political party leaders to adopt a constructive approach in resolving the current political crisis and forming a government capable of tackling pressing economic and social issues. The party emphasized the importance of establishing a government with full powers to address the challenges faced by citizens and the national economy.

According to the Social Democrats, official statistics highlight a severe economic reality characterized by recession, high inflation, decreasing consumption, rising unemployment, and escalating public debt. The party pointed out that the national economy is officially in recession, with the highest inflation rate in Europe, a continuous decline in consumer spending, and a rapid increase in both unemployment and public debt.

The PSD emphasized that maintaining a dismissed government with limited powers negatively impacts the standard of living for voters across all parliamentary parties. The party called for a collective effort to set aside political egos and concentrate on economic solutions that effectively address the people’s issues.

Stressing the need to prioritize citizens over politicians, the Social Democrats asserted, “We all have a duty to set aside political egos and prioritize the needs of those who have entrusted us. Our responsibility is to build a majority that serves the citizens, focusing on economic solutions that address their urgent problems and are part of a comprehensive government program. We aim to present this majority to the President of Romania next week to facilitate the appointment of a prime minister who will implement the necessary economic recovery measures.”

The PSD criticized the reluctance to engage in political dialogue and the imposition of what it considers disproportionate conditions, arguing that these actions exacerbate the crisis and harm the interests of voters. The party emphasized the importance of cooperation and a unified approach to finding solutions that benefit the populace and contribute to economic recovery.
