The Funeral Arrangements

The funeral ceremonies for Mircea Lucescu are being meticulously organized by the Funeral Services Association (ASF), the same group that handled the state-honored funeral for former president Ion Iliescu. Vlad Andrei Cristea, president of ASF, expressed that organizing Lucescu’s funeral is a profound honor, recognizing the coach’s enduring legacy.

The funeral proceedings began at the National Arena, where Lucescu’s coffin was placed for public homage. High-ranking officials, colleagues, former collaborators, and family members gathered to pay their respects to the late coach.

A Lasting Tribute

As a tribute to Mircea Lucescu’s unparalleled contributions to football, authorities have decided to rename the new Dinamo team stadium in his honor. Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan also visited the National Arena to honor the esteemed coach.

The funeral service is scheduled to take place on Friday, starting with a ceremony at the Church of Saint Eleftherios at 10:00. The final stage of the funeral will be held at the Bellu Cemetery, where military honors will be bestowed upon Lucescu at 13:10, with attendance restricted to family and close associates.
